How to block YouTube Shorts without blocking YouTube

You can keep normal videos, subscriptions, search, and the rest of YouTube without leaving the Shorts feed available as an easy detour.

What Still changes

Still removes the YouTube Shorts shelf and tab in supported browsers. When you open a Shorts link, Still sends it to the normal YouTube video player instead. It does not block ordinary YouTube videos or the rest of the site.

YouTube Shorts blocking is free and does not require an account.

Set it up

Install Still on your browser. Get it for Safari on iPhone, iPad, and Mac, Chrome, or Firefox on desktop.
Turn on the extension. In Safari, enable Still under your browser's Extensions settings and allow YouTube. In Chrome or Firefox, open Still from the browser toolbar and make sure Still is on.
Reload YouTube once. The Shorts shelf and tab should disappear.

If Shorts are still visible

Confirm that the Still extension is enabled.
In Safari, confirm that Still is allowed on YouTube.
Check that the YouTube setting and Still's main switch are on.
Reload the page after any permission or setting change.
